The Arizona Institute for Clinical & Translational Science Biomedical Informatics Services Group (BIS) is pleased to be a Partner in the REDCap Consortium. REDCap is comprised of 1,486 active institutional partners in 91 countries, and it supports a secure web application (REDCap) designed exclusively to support data capture for research studies. The REDCap application allows users to build and manage online surveys and databases quickly and securely, and is currently in production use or development build-status for more than 173,000 projects with over 236,000 users spanning numerous research focus areas across the consortium.

REDCap (Research Electronic Data Capture) is a secure web application for building and managing online surveys and databases. Using REDCap's stream-lined process for rapidly developing projects, you may create and design projects using 1) the online method from your web browser using the Online Designer; and/or 2) the offline method by constructing a 'data dictionary' template file in Microsoft Excel, which can be later uploaded into REDCap. Both surveys and databases (or a mixture of the two) can be built using these methods. REDCap provides audit trails for tracking data manipulation and user activity, as well as automated export procedures for seamless data downloads to Excel, PDF, and common statistical packages (SPSS, SAS, Stata, R). Also included are a built-in project calendar, a scheduling module, ad hoc reporting tools, and advanced features, such as branching logic, file uploading, and calculated fields. REDCap has a quick and easy software installation process, so that you can get REDCap running and fully functional in a matter of minutes.

Regulatory compliance: REDCap can be installed in a variety of environments for compliance with such standards as HIPAA, 21 CFR Part 11, FISMA (low, moderate, high), and international standards. Because *you* have direct and total control over your system, REDCap is fully personalized to meet your security policies and user needs.

Available in multiple languages: Several language translations have already been compiled for REDCap (e.g. Chinese, French, German, Portuguese), and it is anticipated that other languages will be available in full versions of REDCap soon. If any REDCap consortium partner is able and willing to contribute a translation of REDCap into a new language, we are very much interested in acquiring your help.

REDCap mobile app for iOS and Android: REDCap users can now collect their REDCap data in a mobile app on an iPhone, iPad, or Android phone or tablet. The REDCap Mobile App adds a new dimension to REDCap's versatility by providing users with a tool for offline data collection, particularly in environments with poor internet connectivity. The app cannot be used on its own but is a companion app that must be used alongside REDCap itself (you must first be a REDCap user at a REDCap partner institution before you can utilze the mobile app). To learn more, check out the About the Mobile App document, and if you are interested in the details of what security standards are applied in the app, please see the Mobile App Security document.
